POLICE TORTURE

The NERVAZHI has reached out on several occasions to persons who have been subjected to torture by the police. The primary information regarding instances of torture are collected from the media as also from the various local partners networking with NERVAZHI. The volunteers of NERVAZHI would then approach the victims and record their statements on the violations complained of. Thereafter, the volunteers would help the victims to prefer complaints to various authorities including the State Human Rights Commission, Asian Human Rights Commission. the superior authorities in the Police Department and the Home Department. Appropriate cases would also taken up before the appropriate courts through public spirited and minded legal practitioners. The NERVAZHI also takes special care to follow up the complaints to its logical end also provides all support to the victims to get redress from the authorities through continuous monitoring and follow up.
